What IT Support Covers
Desktop & User Support
The daily interruptions: Windows faults, slow machines, Office and Outlook issues, printers that vanish, password lockouts and new-starter setups.
Office Network & Wi-Fi
Fibre routers, switches, access points and firewalls configured for a real office, not left on factory defaults with the password on a sticker.
Security Hardening
Endpoint protection, patching discipline, admin-rights cleanup, email spoofing protection and staff-level guidance on the scams currently hitting SA businesses.
Backup & Recovery
Backups configured, monitored and restore-tested. A backup nobody has ever restored from is a guess, not a plan.
Email & Domains
Business email on your own domain, migrations without losing mail, and the DNS records that keep your invoices out of clients' spam folders.
Automation & AI
Repetitive admin turned into something automatic, see AI automation for what that looks like in practice.
Centurion and Surrounds
Being local matters for IT support in a way it doesn't for most services, when a switch dies, somebody has to physically stand in front of it. On-site work covers:
Working from a Pretoria address instead? See IT support in Pretoria. Anywhere else in South Africa, remote support handles the majority of issues without a callout fee.
Why Businesses Move to Sofire-IT
The complaint I hear most often about previous providers isn't incompetence. It's distance. Tickets go into a system, a different technician calls back each time, nobody remembers that your accounting package needs a specific printer driver, and the same fault gets re-diagnosed from scratch every quarter.
Sofire-IT is deliberately the opposite. One specialist, your setup documented and remembered, and a phone number that reaches the person who did the work. That's only possible at a certain scale, which is why I take on a limited number of retained clients rather than as many as possible.
Common questions
Do you do same-day on-site visits in Centurion?
Usually yes. Centurion is one of my core service areas, so if you call in the morning during the week I can generally be on-site the same day. Later calls typically get a next-morning slot. I'll always give you a realistic time rather than a vague 'sometime today'.
What size businesses do you work with in Centurion?
Mostly businesses with between 2 and 30 staff, professional practices, small manufacturers, agencies, retailers and consultancies that need everything to work but don't need a full-time IT department. I also help solo professionals and home offices with setup, security and backups.
Can you take over from our current IT provider?
Yes, and it's a common request. I start by documenting what you actually have, machines, network kit, licences, domains, hosting, backups and who holds which passwords. Handovers often surface things nobody knew about, like an expiring domain or a backup that stopped running months ago. Once documented, the transition is straightforward.
Do you support both Windows and Mac?
Yes. Most South African SME offices are Windows-based and that's the bulk of my work, but mixed environments with Macs, iPhones and Android devices are normal now and I support them. What matters more than the operating system is whether email, files, printing and Wi-Fi work reliably for everyone.
How is your pricing structured?
Ad-hoc callouts are billed hourly at a rate agreed upfront, with travel inside Centurion included. If you're calling regularly, a monthly retainer covers monitoring, patching, backup checks and a set number of hours, almost always cheaper than paying per incident. I'll quote both so you can compare.
Are you also able to build or fix our website?
Yes. That's part of why clients consolidate with me. I've built over 100 websites and host more than 40, so website, hosting, domain, email and IT support all sit with one person. See website development for details.
